About Glen Moray Distillery
The Glen Moray distillery started production with two stills in 1897 in Elgin, on the banks of the River Lossie: their water source. It closed following a fire, reopened for a few years and then closed again in 1910. It started production again when it was bought Glenmorangie PLC in 1920 and doubled their capacity by adding two additional stills in 1958. Glen Moray is now owned by La Martiniquaise and as of 2012 produces 3,300,000 litres per year with 3 wash stills and 3 spirit stills. A large proportion of this goes into blended whisky, such as Label 5, and their Single Malts have won many awards in the Speyside category.
